2018

24th July - Application to Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme is in.

23rd July - Meeting with Cardiff Met and Cardiff Council about student volunteers helping in the Bishop’s Castle and The Pound.

16th July - Visited the Traders in Llandaff High Street with a fun survey about The Pound.

11th July - Llandaff Society Strawberry Tea at the Bishop’s Castle.  We raised money for the Christmas Lights with our Treasure Map.

10th July - Went to Gift Aid training with C3SC.

6th July - Llandaff’s Rainbow Fair on The Green.  We shared an information stall with Llandaff Society and ran a fun survey.  And watched the donkeys!

29th June - Meeting with Mark Drakeford AM who is supporting The Pound project.

23rd June - Another garden clearup in the blazing sun.  Who pruned that tree?

7th June - Meeting for Cadw’s Open Doors in Llandaff.  Llandaff 50+ will be opening up The Pound and doing tours around the Castle.

31st May - Visit by our eco-friendly expert to explore solar panels and water harvesting.

30th May - Our Medieval May Fayre was great fun - shame about the weather.

10th May - Our first Partners and Patrons meeting was a great success.

1st May - The Storytelling Workshops, sponsored by Age Cymru Gwanwyn, are proving very popular.

28th April - Garden clearup with volunteers and our councillors to stop the undergrowth before spring!

26th April - Our treeman, John Palser 07921 858654, has lopped the tree to stop it damaging the Castle walls. It will be removed when the Dig takes place.

24th April - Application to HLF for heritage and gardening activities is in.

18th April - Application to Co-op Local Community Fund is in!  Keep your fingers crossed that we get chosen.

12th April - Application for a development grant from Big Lottery is in.  Hopefully, this will cover the costs to take us through the Planning application.

11th April - First meeting for our spring term - lots of Welsh food to taste!

27th March - Busy day for 50+!  Great meeting with HLF in the morning, to discuss funding for heritage activity planning for The Pound and then the start of our Storytelling Workshops, funded by Age Cymru Gwanwyn, with Richard Berry.  A good turnout - and lots of fun!

23rd March - 50+ committee meeting at The Maltsters (always good fun) and a preparation meeting with Richard Berry, who will be taking the storytelling workshops (funded by Age Cymru/Gwanwyn) starting on Tuesday.

21st March - Dave Wyatt from CAER Heritage Project came to talk to Llandaff 50+ and tell us about their archaeological dig. As we’re both working with Dr Tim Young, we’re planning to work together in the future.

19th March - Funding work continues.  Workshops are booked for training our storyteller/guides for the May Fayre in the Castle.  Thanks to the Age Cymru Gwanwyn Grant for funding this great opportunity.

9th March - Meeting with new volunteer to discuss Planning and being eco friendly.

1st March 2018 - The snow stopped us from celebrating St David’s Day at The Pound, but gave us some good photos for our Christmas cards.

We’re writing funding applications and planning for the Medieval May Fayre.
